Live First Internship: From Intern to Director

What has kept Director of I.T. and Operations Shannon Hammeren at First International Bank & Trust for more than 28 years?

The answer is simple: "People care about each other here."

Shannon's career at FIBT began with an internship in the 1990s. "It was a department of two. I really had no choice but to touch everything. Now we can focus people in different places. You're interested in security? Well, we've got a whole department that does that – so we can focus you there," he said.

The ability to specialize and focus on one's interests drew Austin Renken to his current internship at FIBT. "They were very supportive about me branching out and pursuing what I am interested in," Austin said.
